Artist Have a Global Awareness of Artmaking
Día de los muertos
mango buttercream sugar skull cakeThe day of the dead is a tradition in mexico where they honor their dead loved ones by making them an alter with all there favorite foods and drinks and there are candles every where. Most people would see this as a sad time but they see it as a day they can visit their dead family members. There are candy skulls and decorated skulls too. This day is celbrated on November 1 & 2, this is because on October 31 at midnight they believe that the gates of heaven are open and the deceased children of families come out and celebrate on November 1. Then on November 2 the adults come out too. I choose to do art from this day because my step mom spent some time in Mexico and showed me these skulls and designed skeletons. I think they are really cool and beautiful. While copying this type of skulls i painted common patterns that are on the skulls, like floral patterns and rings around the eyes. I used two pinch pots to make the head and shaped the face carving out the teeth and nose and eyes. I then drew the pattern on the back of the skull and mixed the different  colors of paint I wanted.
Artists Take Risks
I never thought of using wood as a material i mainly like to draw or use clay, but it had to be a sculpture and we were only allowed to use so much clay. So I looked through the box of art supplies left behind in hopes of finding some inspiration. I found wood, beads, a necklace, and a baby show with a bow on it. I thought that it would be cool to make my younger sister a door hanger with her name on it. So I first sanded the wood and prepped it to be painted. I painted it all white then add dark and light blue dots on one side and stripes on the other. That day I was talking to her and she told me her favorite color was pink so I used the pink beads I found and hot glued them on the dark blue spots. I then attached the blue necklace to hang it up adding a bow on the top.
Artists Collaborate
After all the projects were finished we did critique. Critique can be a useful thing to an artist they can take past comments on their art to shape it and mold it till it's the best it can be. The photo on the left is a picture of one of the first critiques they are very basic comments like I love the color or pattern. The one on the right is the most recent and has comments like The detail and the contrast and the vibrant colors really add to the piece and make it look amazing. I think that as a class we have grown in our art with the help of critique and have grown in the critique giving side. Like being able to use art vocabulary and pieces of the art to give a compliment and constructive criticism and the ability to ask questions.

 Artists Develop Art Making Skills
In art class we began the semester with drawing a hand and we would draw the letters of the alphabet. We each drew hands and learned different techniques to make the hands look more realistic. We learned about proportion and how to measure the different lengths of the hand and transfer that onto the paper. We then learned how to use value to are advantage and make the creases and folds in the hand present and realistic. Realism is the a type of art while working on our hands it helped us to learn how to mange the space and make the image make sense.

Artists Create Original Art
When drawing the letter R in sign language I used my own photo and orientation of the hand. I positioned my own hand and the photo from an angle that I liked once I took the photo I proceeded to draw it taking in how my hand was in the photo and how i saw my hand outside of the photo I took portions of each and created the drawing of the letter R. I feel that I came up with my own interpretation of the art and how it should look by using various source that I had like how the sign looked and where I took the picture and the curves of the fingers.
 Artists Reflect
When we began the stop motion film we already had seen videos like this that were a string of photos put together. We first decided the material we would use we decided on M&M's, so we brought in M&M's then next day. We then planned how we would take the photos. We ended up putting two stools on the table and putting two meter sticks in between  to hold the phone then we decided on the pattern of the M&M's. We then decide on what would happen and after we did that we each got a roll and each did something to add M&M's make the patterns or take photos. The end product was made by and app.

Develop art skills.

During the warm ups I learned a couple new art skills, like how to use perspective to get the view to look where you want them to and show depth in a drawing. I also learned everything has proportions and creating the correct proportion can make it look very realistic. It can also be fun to not do it proportionally, like a cartoon. Below is a picture of a bench that sides show perspective and lead the eye to the end which has the door. Learning these new techniques will help my art to grow in the correct direction. it will help for me to show more emotion and really show the depth of a hallway or passage and everything will be in proportion.

During the process of creating this art i asked the people around my table if they liked it or what they thought of it. If i had to grade myself on take information and using it i would give myself a two i hear what they say. But I didn't take it into account what they were saying like with my dream catcher i heard what you said and i didn't know what to do but i just choose the thing i new i could do. which ties into artists taking risks i wanted to do what i was comfortable with and what was easy.

Artists Create original art
I took the basic idea of buildings and hallways and changed to an object similar to both. It is lond like a hallway and has the corner of a building. This is one thing that i think i am improving on this year. I used to look at others art work and copy it or get inspiration from the people at the table.

During the process of creating this art i asked the people around my table if they liked it or what they thought of it. If i had to grade myself on take information and using it i would give myself a two i hear what they say. But I didn't take it into account like that i want to fill in the white spots in the oil pastels. i heard it but I didn't change anything about it or correct it.

During this project I realized that draw horses was complicated and I wasn't sure how to draw one. I took all of the information I learned in art and looked online to help me gather information to paint a watercolor horse. Before I knew how to paint it the shadows and the depth didn't show (this is the horse on the right.) The horse on the left is after I took all I know about mixing darker colors to shade and after I watched the video on how to paint a horse. The video I watched showed how to use dry brush for the darker shades and add water so they gradually get lighter.

Have a Global Awareness of Artmaking
During fun friday we do many things that people currently are messing with and looking into, to create cool art. One fun friday we created a moving sculpture on the ceiling of a trailer. In the past fun friday we took perspect photos which many artists apply themselves to. When you create art similar to others around the world it can connect you and the other people. No art is exactly the same.

Developing art making skills.

In art class we learned how to draw with oil pastels. As a class we each drew a sphere with oil pastels. We were then given the option to do the next project in oil pastels. The project that I'm currently working on is about space I chose to do the project in oil pastels. One thing I like about oil pastels is they are easy to blend and give the picture a nice texture. Oil pastels are fun to draw with other than the fact that your hands are covered in them after you finish.

Solving problems.
It is not really a problem, but I learned how to draw a face better and I was able to make it more realistic. I learned how values can bring something to life and show the depths and feelings. I used what i learned and put it into my work to help the nose be gradual on the face and not very intense  and stuck on there. Also we learned how to draw each feature of the face which helped the whole face to be more realistic. I would like to learn how to draw hair next.

Artists reflect.
In art we have the day to look at others art and right positive comments. After we have this I enjoy to look over my comments and use the comments to improve my art or to improve my feelings about my art. Before this I felt my art wasn't good enough and that everyone else was better. After this i realized we all strengths and I just need to find mine.

Develop art skills.

Spheres and value
During the warm ups I learned a couple new art skills, like how to use value to show how an objects depth or shadows. I also learned everything has proportions and creating the correct proportion can make it look very realistic. It can also be fun to not do it proportionally, like a cartoon. On the right is a picture of two different ways to draw a sphere. The top one the shading was added last and created a burnishing effect, which allowed the colors to blend better. The bottom sphere is an example of putting the shadow on first; in my opinion this technique is harder because you view the sphere well. The bar in the middle of the picture is a value bar going from light to dark.

Communicating in artwork.

Zentangle
In my Zentangle I communicated what society looks like and how everyone puts on a like persona on the outside, but in the inside they are all different and unique. I represented this by having the different sections have the same outline but different designs in them. The feather represents the little likeness that everyone has. Some people believe this to be bad, but I think the fact that everyone wants to look similar is good because it shows that we are all connected yet we all have individual aspects.

Creating original art.

A lot of Zentangles are done inside of an object. I took that idea and changed it so the patterns are around the object making it the focal point that stands out from the rest of the patterns in the Zentangle.
